August 2019 Update, Greeter training, Engaging the congregation in Outreach training.
As summer draws to a close it is a good reminder that the 502nd anniversary of the 95 Thesis is only a short 6 weeks away. Recommended reading is either the 95 Thesis or The Solid Declaration, Part 1, the Epitome, part of the Book of Concord. Don’t forget – this website will go silent in February 2020, so get any downloading done soon.
Here’s what is new:
1. A new presentation titled Engaging the congregation in Outreach has been posted on the website. This presentation is useful for reminding the congregation how they need to fit into the overall outreach posture. It includes a sample outreach invitation handbill for a member to use in inviting a friend, neighbor or family member to a special service. The sample provided is for Advent, but it can be regenerated for any special service or general use.
2. A companion presentation has been developed for Greeter training. The emphasis is on the use of names and introductions between the visitor and greeter, as well as the greeter then introducing the visitor to others. Ushers have a companion effort in greeting the visitor as well. A side effect of the heavy use of names is that individual members of your congregation will feel more connected with the visitors and each other. Really a win-win situation.
3. In development but not yet ready for release,is a presentation titled, Our Creator God,
Genesis Revisited. This presentation will review the Genesis account in light of recent discoveries dealing with dating of objects, evolution and other related topics. It provides answers for Christians in responding to atheists, and other skeptics on the reality of a young earth creation.
