Greetings to you all. This month is going to be a busy one with our moving date fast approaching in the last week of Feb. We don’t have an actual date yet but hope to nail that down next Monday or Tuesday. Renovation work on the new home is coming along nicely with new floor coverings going down this week. Due to all the activity there most likely won’t be much to report on next month, so we will just have to see how that works out.
I attended the NW Called to Confess meeting in Coos Bay, OR on Jan 26, 27 where three presentations were made on different chapters of C. S. Lewis’ The Abolition of Man. Talk about forecasting our current social and religious situation. It was most informative and scary all at the same time, by reflecting on how the current Post Modern thinking doesn’t leave much room for further decay in thinking. It leaves us with a big challenge to try and reach people and tell them about Christ when they are basically living in an alternate universe that doesn’t include religion, trust, authority or much else for that matter. Read the book for yourself, it’s sobering.
Here’s what is new for Jan 2018
1. The Clarity of Scripture and the Order of Creation, a paper written by Rev. Christian A. Preus has been added to the Creation Ministry page at, http://churchmatterssolutions.org/creation-ministries/. It is good to see the renewed interest in this topic, especially when it is so badly needed by our youth. Keep the papers coming to me and I will post them.
2. The final editing work has been completed on Part VI, and last, addition to the Leadership Series. Part VI was originally titled Church Discipline and in the final editing the title was changed to Forgiveness, Repentance, or Not. The presentation begins with the mechanics and emotions of dealing with forgiveness of transgressions, offenses and slights and then goes into the area and processes for dealing with Private Sin, followed by the processes for dealing with Public Sin. Among the reference documents is the CTCR report titled Church Discipline in the Christian Congregation, dated November 1985. Multiple Scriptural references are included as well. I encourage each of you to review this presentation, as it will help you deal with the bumps and difficulties of life in a Christian community. Hopefully, I can get it posted in the next couple of weeks and when I do it can be found at http://churchmatterssolutions.org/education/lay-leadership-in-the-congregation/.
Have a great month in the Lord!
